How to Honor God by Living a Healthy Lifestyle featuring The Nourishing Soul Co.

What is the definition of a healthy lifestyle? Before entering my graduate nutrition program, I would’ve told you that what you eat and how you workout is what really counts. Even though those are two important elements of a healthy lifestyle, there is more to health than that. If you truly want to live a healthy lifestyle, you also need to take care of your mind and soul.

It’s 2019. We’re living in the most progressive and digital age in history. Americans have unlimited educational resources at their fingertips, courtesy of the Internet. You might assume that our country is thriving and everyone is living their best life ever. Unfortunately, this isn’t the case. In comparison to other high-income countries, Americans aren’t living as long and 19.1% of the country is diagnosed with anxiety each year (1).

When we look health related to nutrition, ¾ of Americans have an eating pattern that is low in fruits, vegetables, dairy, and healthy oils (2). And the majority of people are eating more than the recommended daily intake of sugars, saturated fats, and sodium (2).

Clearly, what the media and mainstream health authorities have been promoting isn’t working. People are living with nutritional deficiencies, disease and less happiness relative to the quality of life (1). You can eat healthy and follow nutrition and exercise recommendations to the T. But if you’re not nourishing your mind and soul with a relationship with Jesus, you’ll continue to feel unfulfilled and struggle with your health.

The solution? Invite the Lord to walk with you and follow His Word as you actively live a healthy lifestyle!

His Ways Are Not My Ways featuring Sarah Paige Diaries

I will never forget the day I sat on the floor of my bedroom crying my eyes out because my life was going in a completely opposite direction from where I thought it was going. When I finished high school, I made a failed attempt at going to Bible college, and then I moved home and started working at my church. I was a production assistant and focused mainly on sound, lights, and graphics. And I loved my job. I loved every single second of it and decided it was what I wanted to do with the rest of my life.

Forgiveness can be a sticky, tricky thing.

We know we should.. But we don’t always know how.

We know we need to.. But we don’t always want to.

It can be so hard to completely forgive someone who’s hurt us or done us wrong in some way. Our human nature doesn’t want to let go so easily!

Can you relate??

I definitely can! Growing up, I had a couple of friends who did me wrong. I found out they were talking about me behind my back, making me look bad to others, and one even eventually dropped me with no explanation.

Like seriously blocked me on all social media, stopped returning my texts, and basically never talked to me ever again! Harsh right?

How I Changed My Bible Study from Lackluster to Life Giving: Make Reading the Bible Fun!

When I was younger, I never made much time to study the Bible. In all honesty, it didn't much appeal to me.

I didn't really understand the words and I had no idea how to really make sense of them. Unfortunately, I had a lot more fun things I wanted to be doing!

Now that I'm at a deeper part in my walk with God, I realize that my way of thinking back then had a lot to do with immaturity in my relationship with the Lord. However, one thing still sticks out to me about my old mind frame.

The lack of fun!

You may have experienced this same type of slump in your walk with the Lord, too! Especially if you don't really like reading or studying. Not to mention how the whole 66 books and 1000 pages thing can be a real scary mountain to climb, am I right?!

3 Ways to Grow Closer to Christ and Find Your Purpose!

Growing up, the knives in my family kitchen were always dull. My momma had a fear of cutting herself while cooking, so she never let my dad sharpen any of our cutlery. While she was very content with having to deal with the dull utensils, my sister and I always complained.

It was always difficult to cut through vegetables and fruits, getting even slices was out of the question, and prepping food always took way longer than it should! In the end, cooking with the un-sharpened knives was very frustrating, time consuming, and led to sub-par results.

Sometimes in life, we ourselves can be just like those dull knives!

When we refuse to sharpen ourselves, attempts at fulfilling God’s purpose in our life can be frustrating and seem a little hopeless. It can take longer than necessary and give us results that don’t turn out exactly as we’d hoped.
