4 Best Tips for Balancing School and Your Relationship with God

Life as a student can be super busy! Whether you’re in high school or college, student life is filled with an endless to-do list. From homework to projects, club meetings to hanging out with friends, even after-school jobs and sport practices, your free time can be limited.

Because of this, it can be hard to nurture your relationship with God. As a Christian student, the Lord wants you to do your very best at whatever you’re doing— studying, volunteering, playing a sport, anything and everything. How to Honor God as a College Student

When I started college back in 2014, it was one of the scariest yet most exciting times of my life. I was hesitant about the whole experience, not sure what to expect. I painted a picture of what I thought it could be and what the next four years would look like, but it turned out to be so much different than what I had imagined.

Isn’t that how life usually works?

13 Tips for Doing a Social Media Detox

In today’s world, I think it’s safe to say that social media is a huge part of most everyone’s lives. We use it to update our loved ones, meet new friends, keep up with the trends, learn new things, and so much more! It’s truly how we stay connected with the world.

Social media has a lot of positive uses and attributes, but it can also very easily take over our lives. We’ve all been there— mindlessly scrolling for hours, ignoring those around us as we read the next post, getting caught up in new drama. How to Honor God by Living a Healthy Lifestyle featuring The Nourishing Soul Co.

What is the definition of a healthy lifestyle? Before entering my graduate nutrition program, I would’ve told you that what you eat and how you workout is what really counts. Even though those are two important elements of a healthy lifestyle, there is more to health than that. If you truly want to live a healthy lifestyle, you also need to take care of your mind and soul.

It’s 2019. We’re living in the most progressive and digital age in history. Americans have unlimited educational resources at their fingertips, courtesy of the Internet. You might assume that our country is thriving and everyone is living their best life ever. Unfortunately, this isn’t the case. In comparison to other high-income countries, Americans aren’t living as long and 19.1% of the country is diagnosed with anxiety each year (1).

When we look health related to nutrition, ¾ of Americans have an eating pattern that is low in fruits, vegetables, dairy, and healthy oils (2). And the majority of people are eating more than the recommended daily intake of sugars, saturated fats, and sodium (2).

Clearly, what the media and mainstream health authorities have been promoting isn’t working. People are living with nutritional deficiencies, disease and less happiness relative to the quality of life (1). You can eat healthy and follow nutrition and exercise recommendations to the T. But if you’re not nourishing your mind and soul with a relationship with Jesus, you’ll continue to feel unfulfilled and struggle with your health.

The solution? Invite the Lord to walk with you and follow His Word as you actively live a healthy lifestyle!

In today’s world, we all face troubles, fighting numerous battles that can make the day-to-day more difficult than we would like.

Mental health problems are a huge crisis today, with illnesses such as anxiety and depression debilitating countless people. Some may think that Christians wouldn’t have to deal with these battles, but it is far from the case.

The body of Christ is being hit with the same mental struggles as non-Christians and the result is saddening.

How to Stop Being an Excessive Planner

Are you an excessive planner? A bonafide perfectionist? Maybe even a little bit of a control-freak? Hey.. me too, girl!

I’ve always been religious with carrying a planner, writing down anything and everything that’s going on in my life. You could always count on me to plan any party, trip, or hangout session down to the minute (I apologize to all of my friends and family that I’ve probably stressed to the max due to my obsession).

I’d always get comments like “Why can’t we just go with the flow?” or “Why does it matter if we’re a little late?”

But thinking about just one thing going wrong because I didn’t plan everything down to the smallest detail gave me nightmares. I’ve always thought that the perfect plan was the solution to any problem!

But what if trying to have the perfect plan is the actual problem?

15 Day Self Care Challenge

This fall season has been a time of growth for me. Because of this, I’ve realized that a huge part of personal growth includes self-care!

Self-care has gotten a lot of recognition lately and, as Christians, I think it’s important for us to recognize the importance of it. However, we need to do it in the right way.

Changing your routine to revolve all around us and our needs is definitely not what followers of Jesus should be doing, even though that’s what a lot of the world would tell us.

We must learn to break through what the worldly view of self-care means, and figure out how God would want us to take care of ourselves.
